The issue is not backup nor any backup verification but recovery of these files and folders. If I say to end-user, there is no solution and just need to shorten folders/file names and flatten the folder structure rather than deep, they are smart enough to google and may come up with same article above :) when backup software starts troubling (so far I have not seen any issues with backup due to file path long). By changing paths, you maybe causing cell errors etc. Users may have path names in formulae in excel for example that links data from excel to excel files. Then IT should never edit paths or folder names unless you know what users are doing or have done. MS may have workarounds, but if it is on a file server, then you need to see if your supporting software like backups (and their ability to restore) can support.

If workaround not available, no problem, I will write below email to staff and management : If solution not available, is there any real workaround works fines for end-users and me (IT) doesn't have issues with backups or other activities.

Solution is, if Microsoft has some changes to not have File Path Long issues any more. Honestly not sure what solution you are looking for.
